1. Reduce tobacco use in women by 20%;
  2. Reduce the number of children regularly exposed to SHS by 25%;
  3. Reduce the physical and mental barriers that prohibit successful quitting;
  4. Decrease the smoking rate among pregnant women by 10%, and;
  5. Increase the awareness and knowledge of healthy lifestyles among trainees by 70%.
  • Build partnerships;
  • Select community-based participants to be a member of program planning committee;
  • Implement a comprehensive smoking cessation healthy lifestyles program;
  • Recruit and hire contractual staff;
  • Incorporate into curriculum best practices- Become An EX and Pathway to Freedom key activities;
  • Assess tobacco use status and create and implement a personalized quit and follow-up plan for all participants;
  • Conduct Life Skills training;
  • Describe and provide Alternative modalities and/or Pharmacotherapy;
  • Provide coaching support;
  • Design and implement an evaluation plan and a program for sustainability and replicability, and;
  • Disseminate self-help tobacco and health related information.

A Breath of Life on the Yellow Brick Road

A Breath of Life is a holistic (spiritual, physical, behavioral, psychological) smoking
cessation healthy lifestyles training program. The purpose of the program is to prevent,
reduce and/or eliminate health disparities, disabilities, and even pre-mature deaths related
to tobacco use and unhealthy lifestyles among disadvantaged individuals and families. We
target all smokers; primary those with dual addictions.
